Why Oplaland

A site where everyone can play.

Oplaland was born on 20 October 2026 from a simple idea: a site for children and young people where everyone can play and learn, including those with a disability, ADHD, dyslexia or autism. Free, no ads, no account.

Why

Free sites for children almost always live on advertising, and educational games often have timers running out, lives to lose and loud sounds. For many children that is a wall. Oplaland takes the wall away: you play at your own pace, and the site adapts to whoever uses it.

How it is made

It follows the W3C accessibility rules (WCAG 2.2, level AA) and the guidelines for people with cognitive and learning disabilities. Every game, every worksheet and every picture is made by us, with the help of artificial intelligence, and checked by hand.

The fonts

The site's lettering uses free fonts (Atkinson Hyperlegible, Baloo 2, Fredoka, Lexend, Lilita One, Nunito, OpenDyslexic), all under the SIL Open Font License: here are the licences.

The flags

The 195 world flags come from flag-icons, under the MIT licence: here is the licence.

The name

“Oplà!” is what Italians say when a child jumps, gets back up or manages something: hop là, hoppla, hoopla. Oplaland is the land where every little step is a celebration.
